Renewable Energy Systems has been serving Alaska at the forefront of energy independence for over a decade.

Our Story

2025 was an incredible year for Renewable Energy Systems,

and we’re excited to share the amazing impact our customers made on the environment:

384 customers statewide added renewable energy to their homes and businesses.
That clean power equals about 5,250,000 electric vehicle miles driven.
- That’s around 211 trips around Earth in an EV.
- Or about 21 trips to the Moon (one-way).
We generated enough energy to power about 150 average homes for a full year
- That’s the same energy as about 131,000,000 full smartphone charges.
- Or around 26,000,000 laptop charges (work-from-anywhere energy!
Our impact equals planting about 436,078 trees (equivalent).
We eliminated about 60,903 barrels of oil (roughly 2,557,926 gallons).

Outage-proofing: Hundreds more customers now have resilience during grid issues

Peak shaving: We reduced strain on the grid during high-demand hours.

Cleaner winters: Stored solar = fewer generator runtimes and less fuel hauling.

Our Company History

Renewable Energy Systems started in Alaska in 2006 to concentrate on the needs of our renewable energy customers. In 2007, Renewable Energy Systems opened its own store with working demonstrations, classroom, large warehouse, and shop facilities in Anchorage. In 2014 RES expanded to Fairbanks to better serve Alaska's northern communities with a new store on Airport Way. With the renewable energy appetite growing RES opened the state's third store location in Mat-Su Valley in 2020.

Owned and operated in Alaska since 1992, Polar Wire established itself worldwide as the premier manufacturer and distributor of Arctic grade wire, electrical components, and wire management products that have been proven to work in the harsh weather environments like Alaska. We use these materials in our BOS (Balance of System) materials.

Renewable Energy Systems provides complete solutions in the renewable energy sector by partnering with premier suppliers with products designed for Alaska's unique environment. We are the exclusive distributor for Surrette Rolls Batteries deep cycle batteries in Alaska. Renewable Energy Systems has had Master Distributorships in place for the products used in system designs for over 10 years.

NABCEP - In the renewable energy industry, NABCEP’s Board Certification programs are the definition of knowledge, experience, and professionalism. NABCEP Board Certifications ensure you have the knowledge and skills to meet the demands of renewable energy projects and employers across the world. We are Alaska's ONLY NABCEP certified designers and installers!

Enphase - The Enphase Gold badge indicates we are certified to install Enphase IQ Batteries. Gold partners have a long track record of installing Enphase products and consistently exhibit great customer experience ratings.
